Recent Readings

One of the neat qualities of my new Kindle is it allows me to save my favorite quotes while reading. I've decided to share a few my favorite clippings from my recent readings (maybe this will become a monthly post for me, we will see).

I've been on an Emily Giffin kick and I highly suggest all of her books. You should click here to check out all of her books if you haven't already done so. You probably will know her best from Something Borrowed, now playing in theaters.

Enjoy a few clips from my Recent Readings... and have a fabulous Sunday!

But maybe that's what it all comes down to. Love, not as a surge of passion, but as a choice to commit to something, someone, no matter what obstacles or temptations stand in the way. Any maybe making that choice, again and again, day in and day out, year after year, says more about love than never having a choice to make at all. - Love the One You're With (Emily Giffin)

But the older you get, the more cynical you become and the more complicated and convoluted the exercise is. You being to realize that nothing is perfect, that there are trade-offs and sacrifices. The worst is when someone in your past trumps the person in your present, and you think to yourself: if I'd know this, then maybe I wouldn't have let him go. - Baby Proof (Emily Giffin)

When they return to their twenty-year reunion, they see the error of their ways. The nice, quiet, slightly nerdish boy has bloomed into the perfect husband, wholesome father, and the loyal caretaker while the flashy, popular jock is off in the corner playing grabass with Misty, the slutty ex-cheerleader. - Baby Proof (Emily Giffin)

Love is seldom - almost never - an even proposition. Someone always loves more. - Baby Proof (Emily Giffin)

Throughout the ordeal, I learned that getting mad was easier than being sad. Anger was something I could control. I could settle into an easy rhythm of blame and hate. Focus my energy on something other than the ache in my heart. - Baby Proof (Emily Griffin)

Whenever you make a big decision in life, at least any decision where you have a viable alternative, there is an inevitable uneasy aftermath. Anxiety is merely a sign that you're taking something seriously. - Baby Proof (Emily Giffin)

There are no absolutes in relationships. You can't take anything for granted. You can count on absolutely nothing but the unexpected. You can only get in trouble when you start thinking that you're some kind of exception to the rule. - Baby Proof (Emily Giffin)

Each person in a marriage owes it to the other to find individual happiness, even in a shared life. That this is the only real way to grow together, instead of apart. - Heart of the Matter (Emily Giffin)

  1. AH! I do this too! Except for I don't have a Kindle (yet!), but I have a HUGE collection of quotes from movies, books, TV shows, etc. And I have all my favorites saved! For at least the past ten years!

  2. I've of course seen these books everywhere, but have never read any of them. I'm on a Sophie Kinsella kick right now. But when the movie Something Borrowed came out, it really did make me want to pick the book up. :-)
